Healy and Gallagher Help Huskies Get Past Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG-- Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) and Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) each scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Huskies to a 62-58 win over Shippensburg on Wednesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game.
The Huskies trailed early in the game by a score of 16-10, but with the help of an 8-0 run took an 18-16 lead with 8:13 to play in the half. After the Lady Raiders went back on top, the Huskies closed out the half with a 10-3 run to lead by seven at halftime. Healy scored eight of the Huskies final 10 points of the half and hit two, three-pointers along the way.
In the second half the Huskies led by as many as 10 points on two occasions only to see the home team rally and go up by six points, 47-41, with 7:11 to play. Bloomsburg came back and went in front 49-47 on a three-pointer from Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) with 5:39 to play. Later with Shippensburg up by a point, Healy scored back to back baskets to put Bloomsburg in the lead at 54-51. The Lady Raiders would tie the game at 57-all with 1:29 to play on a couple of free throws, but Colleen Kegerreis's (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) layup with 1:01 proved to be the game-winning bucket giving the Huskies their second straight win.
Along with Gallagher and Healy notching 18 points, Kegerreis finished with seven points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies now 10-14, 2-9 in the PSAC East. Shippensburg, 11-13, 5-6 in the PSAC, got 25 points and 19 rebounds from Lauren Beckley, while Elise Mercer added 16.
The Huskies play at Millersville on Saturday.
